Tech Tips: Brower Bookmarks

I wish i know these tips about bookmark earlier. I've been using bookmark tool to save a lot of web pages for my papers' research but i didn't know how to organize them. Therefore, my bookmark toolbar always filled of pages. When the list of saving pages was getting longer, i couldn't able to find the pages that i wanted . Then i started to delete the old ones. As a result, latter when i did the papers, i had to find the sources again.
Now i know how to create a folder to keep the toolbar organizes. I name my bookmark folders by the course subjects that i take in this semester. Look, my toolbar looks so tidy now.

Feedback Thoughts: Learning from Mistakes

Yesterday, i had a short Accounting quiz and our professor allowed to have a small discussion with my partner. I chose answer B and my partner chose A for the same question. I convinced her that the answer should be B. Then she changed her mind. Guess what? A is the right one. I've made a mistake. Now what?

Life-changing inspirational quote. Souce: Pinterest

Life is not always perfect. As humans we make mistake all the time. Making mistake is how we can learn and grow. Some recognize the mistakes that they did and learn from that lesson and move on. The others try to hide them.

The two cases in the article You've make a Mistake. Now what? approve that sometimes making mistake is not a big deal if you can embrace it and change your reaction. As a result, Kathie, an associate-director of SEHN and Gergen, co-founder of smarthinking.com, had gained trust and supportive from their colleagues and bosses again.

However, some people afraid of making mistake, so they avoid doing new things, because doing so make them feel horrible about themselves. Those people should think out of the box. A fixed- mindset could be holding you back- here how to change it  suggests that these people could struggle more. How can you become a doctor if you always afraid of making mistake, since a wrong decision can result a deadly consequence? The only way is that you should accept the risk and learning from those mistakes. It doesn't mean you can do whatever you want or can easy make careless mistake, you have to be training and working through the feedbacks.

Bonus point: About my partner, i apologized her after knowing what i did wrong for the question. She said "that's ok". However, she was sad a little bit because it would probably lower her grade.

Topic Brainstorm

After going through a lots of project ideas, i wish to focus on these four categories for the project: Fairy Tales, Couple from the Bible, The Land of Oz  and Anderson stories.

The idea is that i want to connect all of fairy tales round the world together and alter the characters a bit. In The Story of Tam and Cam (the two sisters), Tam should not so leniency and weak. It is great if  she marries a Princess of England instead of Vietnam and then start new stories- may be they will give birth to Snow White for instance. I also want to bring the Wizard of Oz to continue the adventure of Snow White.

As i mentioned in previous post, i have inspiration with Adam and Eve, but i want to experience what will  happen with the couple if Lilith is the first woman in the world.

I read several stories of Anderson, and although every stories convey different meanings but most of them are not happy ending. What will happen if people around care about The Little Match Girl? What will happen if lightning a match is actually a wish? Those happy endings always delight me for a new story.

Week 2 Story: Beauty and the Ugly

Author's Note: In this new version of Beauty and the Basilisk, Emma meets a poor man with the disfigured face instead of the Basilisk. Their story began in a small house deep down the forest.

Beauty and the Ugly

His name was Charles. No one knew who he is and where he came from. People called him Ugly because of his appearance. Adults afraid of his strange behaviors. Children feared to look at him. They eventually moved as far as they could until no one but him alone in the forest.

His old dark house surrounded by the wilted roses, just the bare branches with thorns. It made the house looked so creepy. Maybe the most valuable thing in the house was the jewel box with a gold rose inside.

One day, as he sat on the round table looking at the rose in the middle of night, he heard someone staggered down the trail, got closer and knocked the door.

- "Is anyone here? Sorry to disturb you at this time but i got lost and couldn't find the way home".

Ugly let the woman in without saying anything. Ugly left her alone so she could have some rest. After a while he came back, the woman and his jewel box vanished. He got angry and searched around but got no sign of her. As he became desperate, the sun rose and a beautiful young girl found him. Her name was Emma.

- "Does this belong to you?" said Emma. She then showed the rose wrapped carefully in a fabric.

- "My mom said she took it from this house. I am so sorry, but she sold the box and used the money already. I can do whatever you want to compensate it, please." She hesitated.

- "It's all my fault. I requested the rose when she gets back". The young girl tenderly nodded her head.

He took the rose, say nothing but looked at her. As usual, Ugly left home at sunrise. She could have gone, but she thought she should do something in return. Emma committed to do the chores and took care of him for three days even though she was skeptical and scared of his odds.

She opened the window so the light could get in, cleaned the table, the chair and the floor. She then watered the roses outside, picked some wild fruits in the forest and put them on the table.

As he returned back later at nightfall, Emma saw blood dropped down from his hand. She worried that he would hurt her. The second day, Ugly still got back late, no blood, but looked so exhausted and irritated. Emma started to get curious why he always covered by the hooded cloak.

The day later, Emma realized that his arm was injured, and he seemed to get worse. While he fell asleep, she gently took the hood out of his face. She was frightened by his jagged teeth and sunken-in eyes. She instinctively felt that she was about to run but her nature didn't allow to do so.
Ugly suddenly woke up and wrap her hands.

-"I was just trying to help", a quavering voice.

It had been so long since someone got close to him like that. No one noticed that the rose bushes out there gradually recovered and the new flower buds appeared. He knew that Emma was the right person that he has been looking for- the only girl that could see his invisible cloak.

As Emma took off his cloak to clean the wound, the cloak suddenly disappeared, the roses bloomed again, the little house turned into a luxurious castle.Ugly eventually changed to his normal appearance while the wound healed itself.

- "Don't be afraid, my name is Charles."  He said under Emma astonished.

Charles was a prince of  Roseland. His father feared that someone would take advantage of him, so the king invited a exorcist to hide his handsome appearance behind the invisible cloak until he find his true love. And that was Emma.

-"Will you marry me?" He proposed.

Reading Notes: Fairy Tale

Mary was a beautiful youngest daughter in a family of four. One day, as her mother was about to go to the market, she asked if her mother could bring her three roses.

The mother came home late with three roses on her hand. As she gave Mary the roses, she asked her to repay by going to the palace and do whatever the person lived there wants in return. Mary agreed and followed her mother to the palace. When she got there, she was astonished by the luxurious and magnificent palace surrounded by the garden of thousands of roses.

The Basilisk suddenly appeared and requested her to take care of him for three hours per day. Three days passed, but the Basilisk never harmed her. However, he had an odd request, that is her cutting of his head. Mary reluctantly agreed and did it, but a new head appeared. She did not hesitated and cut it off for the second time.
Something unexpected happened after that, a handsome, young man appeared, and introduced himself as a prince. Mary didn't think that what she just did break the curse.
After that, the prince proposed and she happily accepted his proposal. They lived happily ever after.

Bonus: This Czech version of Beauty and the Beast is kind of awkward for me, especially the segment in which a Beauty cut off the Beast's head.

Reading Options

I have to say this, the Untextbook has a lot of information and so many choices. This made me confused at the first glance because i didn't really know what to do and how to start doing the things that i supposed to do. But after all, i found that the Untextbook is so interesting.
The first story that i want to read is Alice 's Looking-Glass. I really enjoyed the book Alice in Wonderland when i was a little girl. So i want to explore what might happens in the new chapter of Alice.

Then, i want to experience the story of King Arthur in a written form. I already watched the film about King Arthur and his Excalibur, but reading a book and watching a movie are different since the movie sometimes doesn't follow the book completely.
The last story that i choose is about Adam and Eve. It is on my list because before i just knew that Eve is the first woman in the earth and also Adam's first wife. But now i have to refresh my knowledge and learning about Lilith.
